6 Great Baby Shower Gift Ideas

By Lisa A Mason

Do you have a friend or family member that is expecting a new baby? Are you preparing for the baby shower and wondering what would be the best gift for the new mother to be. It can be hard deciding what gifts to buy but there are a few things that new moms just can't get enough of and any of these make great gifts.

The first thing you need to decide is how much money you plan to spend for the gift. Once you made that decision it will be easier to choose something that the mom can really use. Below are 6 gift ideas that can help you get stated so you can choose the best gift for the new mother to be.

6 great baby shower gift ideas:

  1. If money is no option, then you may want to consider a bassinet, high chair, baby swing or walker. These are things that will come in handy and the mom will be very thankful for them during the upcoming weeks.
  2. Many times people will buy gifts that are only suited for the newborn but babies grow up fast. Consider buying learning toys designed for 6 months to a year old. These will be greatly appreciated and something that will last for awhile.
  3. You can never have too many baby blankets, crib sheets and burp cloths. If you have children of your own, you know how fast they can go through these.
  4. Clothing is always a great gift but you don't necessarily have to buy newborn outfits. Chances are the mom to be will have plenty of these only to find they have nothing for the baby to wear by the time they reach three to six months of age. You can help them prepare for the next few months by buying clothing that will fit as the child grows.
  5. Diapers are a gift that will always be needed and greatly appreciated. It may seem like a simple gift but it's one that will help the first few weeks go much smoother. You can always add powder, baby lotion and other small items to the gift to dress it up a little.
  6. If you want to invest in the child's future and help get them off to a great start you could consider buying a savings bond or starting up a savings account for them. This may seem a little odd as a baby shower gift but it's never too early to invest in a child's future.

You may want to try and find out what gifts others plan to give so you don't end up buying the same things. It could be a little disappointing for all concerned if two or three people bought bassinets or walkers. Before you buy consider what the new mom to be already has and what items have been overlooked. This will help you get a good idea of what will be needed the most.

How to Make Your Custom Greeting Cards Extra Special

By Kaye Marks

Custom greeting cards are indeed a great gift to your friends and family. Their personal touches, as well as their professional feel, all combine to produce a priceless piece of greeting card printing.

However, you can still improve your custom greeting cards by adding extra special content. This special content is always unique from greeting card to greeting card, but the intent is always to deepen and intensify the message in that greeting card. Below are few examples of such extra special touches for greeting card printing. Hopefully you can use these suggestions in your own custom greeting cards to make them more impressive and personal.

Include an "inside joke" One great idea for making a custom greeting card extra special is for you to include an inside joke that only you and the receiver will understand. This may sound like a hard proposition, but if you do it right, you can increase the impact of your greeting card tenfold. Try to look back into your memories with the receiver of your custom greeting card.

Remember the times that you had fun, and the topics that you guys always enjoyed. List down all the good jokes that you guys may have had fun with. Review this list and see if there is material that you can use as an inside joke. These jokes of course differ from people to people, and only you and your loved one can really figure out the funny connection in it. This should make the message extra special and doubly personal for them.

Add a meaningful allusion Beside inside jokes, you can create a custom greeting card message that alludes to different topics that your loved one is interested in. It can be about a favorite movie, a book, a TV show or any other mass medium. Allusions give your greeting card some extra special elements since it can borrow some entertainment value from the topics that you may be alluding to. For example, you can comment that your friend looks like this superhero, or maybe you can add a favorite line from a movie or book, which both of you may have seen or read.

Place famous or funny quotes Of course, besides allusions, you can actually print direct quotes from famous and funny people. Though most greeting cards already have their own factory made quotes, you custom greeting cards can improve upon this by using the wisdom and wit of other people. Famous and funny quotes should add to the novelty and specialness of your greeting cards.

It is all a matter of choice however, by deciding on the best quote that your receiver will truly appreciate. As a tip, you can find a lot of collections of quotations on the Internet. In most cases, they already are classified by category so you should have an easy searching for the best kind of quote that will impress your reader.

Print personal image Lastly, what kind of custom greeting card would be without its own custom or personal image? Since most common off the shelf greeting cards have generic images and clip-arts as a cover, people will always appreciate a personal and thoughtful image. This can be a family picture, a picture of you and the receiver, or it might be an image of a person's favorite pet or thing. These kinds of images pull an emotional connection with the reader, which makes the greeting card all the more memorable and special.

Therefore, those are the things that you can do to make your custom greeting cards extra special. As you can see, they are very easy to do. The only hard part is the one where you need to think of the special message that can connect to your loved one. Do not worry though, once you know what you need to say, your custom greeting card will that extra special greeting card that your loved one will remember and truly cherish.

Gift Ideas For Mothers

By Vita Prule

I always wonder how come that it is so difficult to come up with a great gift for my mom? After all, it is supposed to be easier to buy gifts for mothers rather than our fathers, but for our family it is different. All our friends and family members know what to give to my dad. Everybody knows his passion on fishing, so there is no problem in finding a perfect gift for him. However, to get a really special gift for mothers sometimes seems to be the mission impossible.

Usually we get together and do some brainstorming. We give gift suggestions to each other and try to get the perfect idea out of it, but it is always so hard, however, in my mind, it should not be like that, because moms are our closest people.

We used to give those standard gifts to her like flowers, jewelry, books or chocolate. But then we realized that standard gifts are the worse solution because of one great reason. Our mom is the one and the only! There are no standards for moms and there should not be standard gifts for moms either.

So what is the solution then? What we did was, first of all we stopped looking at any standards and started to put down all things that mom loves and enjoys doing the most. Well, as we all know our moms so well, the list should be quite long; so was ours. And this list was the key to not just one, but even several perfect gift ideas for my mom. Now we have a list of things she likes the most, so the gift ideas will come out of this unique standard, which is based only on my mom's personality and not on other accepted standards.

We bought her a beautiful, nicely looking rocking chair She loves it! And we all are so proud and satisfied every time we see her resting in our beautiful present.

I guess it is all about the way you look at your mom. The more unique person you see every time you look at her, the easier it will be to find a perfect gift for your mother.

How to Shop For Travel Gifts

By John J. Baker

When traveling on holiday, it is nice to remember the folks back home by loading up on souvenirs. The people that you left behind will love funny or memorable gifts from your journey, no matter how small they are. No one should expect you to bring presents, but they will certainly appreciate it when you do. In order not to drop a lot of cash, you can just buy for one or two people a holiday gift who are missing you on your trip.

Or you could remember the babysitter who is watching your children or your housesitter who is guarding your house while you are away. The people who helped you out will be grateful for a little extra something when you return home.

When shopping for souvenirs, be careful not to spend your whole vacation in the stores. If you are just going somewhere for a weekend, or a short week, it can be very time-consuming to try to provide presents for lots of people back home. You may spend days trying to find the perfect travel gifts and consequently you never get to enjoy yourself. Pick one afternoon of your trip to shop, or pick up little things along the way.

Buying souvenirs should be fun, and not stressful. If you focus too hard on finding wonderful presents for everyone, you might as well just stay home and hit a shopping mall. Your friends and family only want a token, something that says you were thinking of them on your holiday. You could even get the same thing for everyone - a collection of refrigerator magnets, pens, or ashtrays. The idea is not to spoil people, but to give them a token of your trip. Even though souvenir shops can seem cheesy and overprices sometimes, where else are you going to find a keychain in the shape of the Statue of Liberty or a mug shaped like a hula dancer?

These are things you can only find in souvenir shops. The cheesier the better! But do not forget to buy yourself something as well. If you are a generous person, you can easily get wrapped up in buying present for other people and you can forget that you need a souvenir from your trip as well.

When you are a tourist, don't buy souvenirs on the first day or on the last day. Buy in the middle of the trip when you are relaxed and have a chance to see what the locality has to offer in terms of gifts. You might find a specialty jar of honey or a locally renowned delicacy to buy. Many regions are famous for one product, whether that be a food supply or a handwoven basket.

Do a little research and find something that will best represent your travels, something that will educate your friends about your destination. And whatever you do, do not wait until the last minute to buy your gifts. Out of desperation you will always spend too much money. Airports are not the place to buy a souvenir.
